Qualifications: Certified Teacher Certificate with an emphasis in English as a second
language and/or Spanish Studies
Reports To: Building Principals; Director of Federal Program
Supervises: Not Applicable
Job Goal: To provide a comprehensive educational program that meets the needs of ELL
students.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Will work in Grades K-12.
2. Focus on English communication skills (verbal, textual, written).
3. Will be trained in giving the language assessment scale to evaluate the progress of
struggling LEP students.
4. Primarily work in small groups or one-on-one situations with students.
5. Collaborate with regular teachers.
6. Contract may vary according to school assignment.
7. Assist the building principal in compiling ELL reports and encouraging parent
involvement.
8. Assist in analyzing and supervising ELL WAPT/Access Data.
9. Assists in translating forms and translating in ELL meetings.
10. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
11. Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within
the limits of the resources provided by the district.
12. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of
immediate supervisor.
13. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
14. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with
physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the
individuals or student groups involved.
15. Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and
instructional goals and objectives.
16. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment,
materials, and facilities.
17. Evaluate students' progress regularly.
18. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and
administrative regulations.
19. Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board
Policy.
20. Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for educational-related
purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable
terms.
21. Attend and participate in faculty meetings where appropriate.
22. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives,
and methods.
23. Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
24. Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
25. Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their
parents concerning both the academic and behavioral processes of all assigned
students.
26. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others.
27. Provides for his/her professional growth through an ongoing program of reading,
workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced coursework at institutions of higher
learning.
28. Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION: The performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with
provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
